Redefining Risk: Increasing Confidence in Your Unconventional Career

Location: The Lobby @ The Times Center

Gone are the days when most of us would spend our lives in toil to one or two companies. When we take the leap to working independently, we can write our own rules and set our own schedules—but being on your own is still a scary idea. New opportunities bring new obstacles to navigate.

Veteran blogger and world traveler Chris Guillebeau will explore strategies for managing the risk inherent in being a solo entrepreneur. Tackling questions like: How do we make the transition to non-employee? What are the pitfalls to avoid? And, once you’ve made the transition, what steps can we take to redefine and reduce risk? Is diversification the answer, or is it better to do "one awesome thing"?

Structure: This workshop setting will be informal and freewheeling, with a number of participatory interactive exercises and activities.
